Dear Sisters and Brothers Assalamu alaikum;

The heartfelt best wishes to the leaders of member organizations of Muslim Coordinating Council of the National Capital Region (MCC-NCR), and to all brothers and sisters in Ottawa and Gatineau, as we eagerly prepare to partake in the blessings of the holy month of Ramadan.

At this time, we remember dear brothers and sisters who struggled on account of Covid 19, and those who succumbed to this terrible illness. We pray that almighty Allah, in His grace, will enable families and friends to cope with their enormous grief.

As we look forward to the fasting and prayers, that always carry a very special spiritual gratification during Ramadan, we need to do our best to contribute to efforts to ensure that at a time of high unemployment and uncertainty, all brothers and sisters will have access to adequate supplies of food and nourishment for themselves and for their children.

The MCCNCR committee is organizing a scaled-up of Sadaqa Food Bank’s Basket challenge to extend the opportunity to share and care during the month of Ramadan 1442 H. Beginning April 1st to May 9th, the MCCNCR team will arrange with community members to:

1. Pick up donated items from the community members location
2. Be the drop off point, where the community can drop off donations.

I appeal to all the leaders of MCC-NCR member organizations and their members to donate non-perishable food items for pick up or delivery as it may suit them. No money donations accepted at this time. Please refer to the attached poster for details of this program.

I trust that Muslim community of Ottawa and Gatineau will make every endeavour to make Sadaqa Food Bank’s campaign a successful event.

On behalf of MCCNCR, I thank you in advance for your support and dedication to this noble cause and may Allah bless you with prosperity and cheers.

I wish you all a blessed Ramadan with tidings of sincere prayers, good health, peace and happiness.

Sincerely,
Akbar Mannousi
President
Muslim Coordinating Council of the National Capital Region

O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you into races and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allāh is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allāh is Knowing and Acquainted.

(Ḥujurāt 49:13)

All creatures are like a family of Allāh. And the most beloved to Him are those who are the most beneficent to His family.
